Westfield, No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20, outlasted No. 14 Summit at the Union County Tournament on Thursday at the Donald Van Blake Facility in Plainfield.

Westfield tallied 96 points as it won four flights and had finalists at all five spots. Summit took second place with 84 points while New Providence was a distant third with 33.

Westfield and Summit met in each of the championship matches. The Blue Devils have won the last two tournaments.

At second singles top-seeded Tristan Wroe defeated second-seeded Edward Wang, 6-1, 6-1, while third singles was won by Zander Ainge, the No. 2 seed, who edged Summit’s top-seeded Ben Levkov, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4.
Top-seeded Cole Hornbeck and Eshaan Khera also took down Summit’s second-seeded Ethan Hopman and NoahNg, 6-2, 6-4, at first doubles, and the second doubles pair of top-seeded Colin Cimei and Deven Patel beat Summit’s Charles McGarity and Nate Arlein in a marathon match, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
First singles went to Summit’s top-seeded Jonah Ng, who topped Westfield’s third-seeded Ben Duan, 6-0, 6-1.

Westfield, which is 21-3, defeated Summit in a pair of dual matches twice this season, each by 3-2 scores. In the first matchup, Summit won at first and second singles while in the second battle, the Hilltoppers took first and third singles.

Isaiah Dore (Plainfield, first singles), Ryan Bokina (Union Catholic, second singles), Steven Manfreda (Gov. Livingston, third singles), Zagarola/Hanlon (Cranford, first doubles), Nahata/McAloon (New Providence, second doubles) all placed third at their respective flights.
