Dan Porretti is New Providence’s Union County Conference Male Athlete of the Week.
Porretti, a senior, has been a leader on and off the field for the New Providence football team this fall, helping lead the team to its strongest start in over a decade – as the Pioneers are currently 7-0 heading into the final week of the regular season.
This past week against Bound Brook, Porretti compiled an all-time all purpose effort, rushing twice for 40 yards and a touchdown, recording a TFL and multiple PBUs on defense, including an interception returned 30 yards for a touchdown, and also returned a kickoff 70 yards for a special teams touchdown! He also kicked 3 extra points in the game – just for good measure!
On the season, Dan has 73 yards rushing, 295 yards receiving, 21 tackles, 4 interceptions, 9 total touchdowns (1 rushing, 5 receiving, 2 defensive, 1 special teams), as well as 19 extra points made as well as 1 field goal made. Dan has showcased himself to be one of the best all around players in the state this season!
