Scotch Plains-Fanwood, No. 5 in NJ.com’s Top 10, remains at the top of Union County.
The Raiders won their fourth consecutive Union County Championship on Thursday. They logged a team score of 108.6 while Westfield came in second with 107.8. Cranford rounded out the top three with a team score of 105.
Shaylin Farley paced Scotch Plains-Fanwood, winning gold all-around with a score of 36.925. She was also victorious on bars (9.4) and was the runner-up in vault (9.4) and floor (9.5).
Alexis Roth of Union Catholic won silver all-around with a score of 36.425 while Cranford’s Claire Werner was third with a 35.35.
The meet saw four different gymnasts win events. Westfield saw two competitors win gold. Jessica D’Agosto was victorious on vault with a 9.45 while Vendella Surgent won beam (9.1). Mia Altobelli of Cranford rounds out the event winners with a 9.55 on floor.
The top three remain unchanged from the competition in 2021. Scotch Plains-Fanwood has been one of the top teams in the state this season and remains the team to beat in Union County.
