There were no repeat winners at the Union County Tournaments which wrapped up Tuesday at Jersey Lanes in Linden.

Cranford’s Matt Greene edged the returning boys individual champion, Michael Martins of Roselle Park, in the stepladder final,179-158.

Greene was eighth coming out of the qualifying with 602 pins, but reached the stepladder with a 720 in the semifinals for a total pinfall of 1,322.

Martins earned a bye into the stepladder final. He carded a 769 to lead the way in qualifying late last week (268-278-223), and then backed that up with another 673 in the semifinals on Tuesday (197-255-221)

On the girls side, top-seeded Mia Luna of Cranford defeated second-seeded Kamila Cruz-Cordiero in the stepladder final, 153-130.

Luna was in third place after the initial day of qualifying with a 512. Hope Williams of Cranford was second with a 528 and Cruz-Cordiero was first at 538, but Luna powered through with a strong 565 (197-236-132) in the semifinals to jump ahead to first.

Williams did not make the stepladder, finishing six pins behind Iree King of Elizabeth.

The team title went to Scotch Plains-Fanwood, the No. 9-ranked team in the NJ.com Top 20. Scotch Plains-Fanwood obtained the top seed by carding a 2,970 in qualifying 91,064-908-998).

Cranford was right on its tail at 2,914, and those two teams would go on to meet in the final. The Raiders won the baker bracket championship, 3-1. Elizabeth placed third by topping Linden.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood is 9-0 on the year.
