It may not qualify as a rivalry, with only three meetings this century, but the ultra-competitive, high-level baseball theatre that is Cranford vs. Millburn turned out another epic episode Friday.

It was a family battle both literally and figuratively, with father facing son while brothers, if you will, who learned to coach together after being college roommates matched wits and teams that are in many ways mirror images

Cranford, No. 6 in the NJ.com Top 20, stared down a four-run, first-inning deficit and scored nine runs over the final two innings to earn a 10-8 victory over No. 8 Millburn when the programs staged a classic for the second straight season in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 championship game at Millburn.
