Jack Gertie – New Providence: Jack is off to an extremely strong start to his senior football season. Jack has excelled on both sides of the ball, as a running back and defensive back for the Pioneers. Through three games this season, Jack has 45 carries for 301 yards and two touchdowns. This past week, Jack helped lead the Pioneers to victory over rival Bound Brook, rushing 20 times for 148 yards and a touchdown. His strong start to the season, along with his fellow teammates, have helped the Pioneer football team improve to 3-0 on the young season. In addition to his statistical accomplishments, Jack’s leadership and consistent effort have been a major factor in the success of this year’s team.

Lydia Voss – New Providence: Lydia has been a devoted player on the New Providence volleyball team since freshmen year. Lydia’s positive energy on and off the court and leadership qualities have lead her to be nominated captain for two consecutive seasons. Lydia holds a remarkable statistic of 301 kills since the 2016 season. Her current statistics for this season, consisting of only three games thus far are: 21 kills, 12 digs, and five blocks. Overall, Lydia’s dedication to the volleyball team, community, and other school activities, such as band, truly show her all-around team spirit on and off the court. Her contributions have helped lead the NPHS girls volleyball team to a strong 2-1 start to the season.

 Maggie Murray & Jimmy Shriner – Cranford: Maggie, a junior on the varsity soccer team, has had a great start at striker this season, tallying two goals and four assists in the Cougars’ 3-1 start against ranked Westfield & Union. Jimmy, a junior on the varsity football team, leads the Cougars in all purpose yards with 312 in the first two games. He also leads the team with six touchdowns helping the Cougars to a 2-0 start.
