Aajah Salters – Elizabeth: Aajah is a three-year varsity starter for the Elizabeth High School “Lady Minutemen”. Her attitude and demeanor on the court is intense and focused. Whether diving on the floor for loose balls, running the floor, putting pressure on the ball when defending, or making strong attack moves to the hoop, Aajah displays 100 % effort throughout the game. She exhibits strong leadership qualities on and off the court. Some career accolades worth noting are: 80 career three-pointers, 107 career assists, 675 career points scored and she averages 15 points, five assists, and eight rebounds per game. She was also selected First Team All-Conference for the 2015-2016 season and made the Benedictine Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team in 2015 and 2016.

Azir Lawson – Westfield: Azir Lawson is a two-year varsity starter in both football and wrestling. He excels on the gridiron as well as the wrestling mat. This past fall Azir was selected to the Mid-State 38 All-Conference Team. He led the Elizabeth Minutemen in tackles with 105 from his middle linebacker position. On the mat, Azir holds a varsity record of 36 – 11. He placed 3rd in the District last year and is off to a great start this year. Azir is currently 12-1 and has his eyes on winning the 2017 District 13 title.

Carly Bechtloff – Westfield: This is Carly first season of track. She ran her first race on the 4 x 800 B team at the Merli Invitational and her time was third fastest on the team at 2:33.5. Based on that time she was moved to the A team for the next meet. She was the lead off leg of the 4 x 800 relay last weekend at the County Relay Championship. Her leg gave the foursome the lead over the meet record holding Union Catholic team dropping her time to 2:30.9 in the process. The relay remained in first place for the rest of the race and went on to break the meet record by five seconds with a 9:53.68.

Griff Morgan – Westfield: Griff has become one of the top swimmers in Westfield history. He is presently ranked 5th in the 200 FR and 6th in the 100 FR and is part of the 5th fastest 200 FR Relay and the 3rd fastest 400 FR Relay in school history. He placed third in both the 200 and 100 Freestyles at last year’s county championships and qualified for the Meet of Champions in both. This year he has become one of the most important and reliable swimmers on the #1 ranked team in the state. He has scored key first places in big wins over then #2 CBA, #4 Bridgewater-Raritan, and #5 Scotch Plains.
